The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an inquiry into an incident involving former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who is currently in remand custody and was transported to court using a bus donated by UNICEF for the transportation of children of female inmates.
A complaint received by the CID alleges that prison authorities utilized the UNICEF-donated bus for Mr. Rambukwella's transport, contrary to UNICEF's directive that it should be exclusively used for the benefit of children of female inmates.
While others remanded with Mr. Rambukwella were transported in a regular prison bus, questions arise regarding the special privilege extended to him in this matter.
