A gang of six treasure hunters was apprehended by the STF during a raid in the Radella forest reserve in Panama, Ampara.
The suspects, hailing from Wellawa, Nittambuwa, Potuwil, Bibila, Panama, and Kurunegala areas, were identified during the operation.
Police seized the tools, equipment, explosives used by the suspects to blast boulders, and a van belonging to them during the raid.
The suspects have been transferred to the Panama police for further legal action.
