Eighteen police officers, including 8 senior DIGs and the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), have been transferred with immediate effect, according to police sources.
Among the transfers are 08 Senior DIGs, one DIG, 08 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP), and one Superintendent of Police (SP).
SSP K.G.A.K. Piyasekara, the CID Director, has been transferred to the Kalutara Division, while SSP E.M.M.S. Dehideniya from Mount Lavinia Division has assumed the role of CID Director.
Senior DIG K. P. M. Gunaratne has transitioned from Senior DIG of the Northern Province to Senior DIG of the Western Province.
Additionally, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, previously overseeing the Crime and Traffic Division, is now Senior DIG in charge of the North Central Province. Senior DIG S. C. Medawatta of the Southern Province has been appointed as Senior DIG of Training and Advanced Training.
Other notable transfers include Senior DIG R. L. Koditutukku to Senior DIG of Crime and Traffic and Senior DIG K. V. D. A. J. Karavita to Senior DIG of Community Police and Tourism Investment. Senior DIG M.D.R.S. Daminda has also taken on the role of Senior DIG of IGP Assistance Services after serving in the North Central Province.
