Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage today (15) ordered the release of Thilini Priyamali, a businesswoman who pleaded guilty in a case filed regarding three violations of court orders, on strict warnings.
The magistrate imposed a fine of 1,500 rupees on the suspect and sentenced her to two weeks imprisonment if she did not pay it.
Thilini Priyamali, a businesswoman accused of defrauding millionaire businessmen, was ordered to be remanded until the 22nd after she did not report to the police for three days, violating a bail condition in a case where she took a gold necklace and did not return it.
The magistrate, following a motion filed by Thilini's lawyer Kingsley Hettiarachchi, ordered her release on bail after an apology was made and her presence was ensured.
The bar panel informed the court that they would withdraw the original answer and ensure such mistakes are not repeated.
Medical reports related to the three days not dealt with according to court orders were presented, but the magistrate deemed them fake and stated the suspect would not be granted bail based on these reports. The suspect was released on the plea of guilty.
The case is scheduled to be called again on July 26 regarding this incident.
