Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has formalized a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Japan Cricket Association (JCA), aimed at enhancing Japan's cricketing infrastructure through collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange.

The MOU, signed at the SLC headquarters, underscores SLC's commitment to supporting Associate Member nations of the International Cricket Council (ICC). SLC President Shammi Silva and CEO of the Japan Cricket Association Naoki Alex Miyaji sealed the agreement, marking a milestone in the bilateral cricketing relationship.

Under the terms of the MOU, Sri Lanka Cricket pledges to assist Japan Cricket in various capacities, including the provision of players, teams, coaches, and curators, thereby facilitating skill development and technical expertise transfer.

In a bid to bolster Japan's cricketing landscape, SLC will organize T20 matches in Japan, featuring Sri Lankan teams, while also extending invitations for Japanese cricket teams to tour Sri Lanka. Moreover, Japanese players will have the opportunity to train alongside Lanka Premier League (LPL) squads, enhancing their exposure to high-level cricketing environments.

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Deputy Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka Kotaro Katsuki, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket Ashley De Silva, and the Goodwill Ambassador of Japan Cricket Development Priyantha Kariyapperuma, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two cricketing bodies.
