A man fatally stabbed his wife before ending his own life through hanging at a guest house in Pothuvil.
The grim discovery was made by the police after concerns arose over the couple's prolonged absence in the room.
It was revealed that the couple,, residents from Mahakalugolla and Puthivil respectively, had been staying at the guest house in Arugam Bay.
Prompted by suspicions arising from their failure to respond, the manager alerted the police, leading to the grim discovery.
Upon entering the room, police found the woman deceased, lying in a pool of blood, while the man was found hanging in the bathroom, indicating a tragic murder-suicide.
The Puthivil Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
