US Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Elizabeth Allen, held discussions with Sri Lanka's Foreign Secretary, Aruni Wijewardane, on Saturday, February 17th. 

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on several recent positive developments marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the US.

During the productive session, Under Secretary Allen reaffirmed the United States' commitment to providing continuous assistance to the Government of Sri Lanka in achieving economic stability. Emphasis was placed on exploring avenues to bolster people-to-people ties and enhance Diaspora outreach, fostering deeper connections between the two nations.

In response, Foreign Secretary Wijewardane expressed appreciation for the development assistance provided by the US International Development Finance Corporation to the Colombo West International Terminal Private Limited in November 2023. Additionally, Wijewardane commended the United States for its humanitarian and emergency aid, which has played a crucial role in addressing the economic challenges faced by Sri Lanka.
