The delegation of the National People's Power (NPP), led by Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has returned to Sri Lanka after a five-day official visit to India. Dissanayake, accompanied by fellow party members Vijitha Herath, Nihal Abeysinghe, and Prof. Anil Jayantha, embarked on the visit following an official invitation from the Indian government.
Upon their return, Dissanayake addressed the media, indicating that comprehensive details about their official visit would be disclosed during an upcoming press conference. The visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India, saw the NPP delegation engaging with several high-level officials and political figures in India.
Key meetings were held with India's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, as well as discussions with India's National Security Advisor and the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel. The agenda focused on enhancing cooperation and fostering closer ties between the two nations.
In addition to diplomatic engagements, the delegation participated in an observation tour of agricultural areas and agro-industries in Ahmedabad, providing insights into India's agricultural practices and potential areas of collaboration in the agricultural sector.
The visit encompassed three cities, namely New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Thiruvananthapuram, underscoring the significance of engaging with various stakeholders across different regions of India. The NPP delegation's visit underscores the party's commitment to promoting dialogue and cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
