During their third day in India's visit, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, leader of the National People's Power (NPP) party, and the NPP delegation held discussions with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The talks primarily focused on development strategies aimed at eliminating poverty in the state and enhancing the administrative system.
The meeting took place at the Vidhan Sabha, also known as the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, situated in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. Discussions delved into various aspects of the state's development agenda, including economic policies, social initiatives, and governance frameworks.
Besides, the NPP delegation held a special session with the Minister of Industries in Gujarat, where a comprehensive presentation was delivered on the renowned "Gujarat Model," which serves as a development paradigm for the Indian government. Key components of the Gujarat Model highlighted during the discussion encompassed energy reforms, agricultural and water management, infrastructure enhancement, industrial growth, investment promotion, healthcare initiatives, and women's empowerment programs.
In a bid to gain practical insights into Gujarat's agricultural landscape, the delegation embarked on an observation tour of agricultural zones and industries in Ahmedabad, gaining firsthand exposure to innovative practices and technologies driving agricultural productivity in the region.
The NPP delegation's visit to India spans five days, following an invitation extended by the Indian government. The engagement reflects a commitment to fostering bilateral ties and exchanging knowledge and experiences in the realm of socio-economic development between Sri Lanka and India.
