Keheliya Rambukwella resigns as minister

Former Health Minister of Sri Lanka Keheliya Rambukwella, whose actions have ruffled the government's feathers due to his involvement in the controversial substandard Immunoglobulin scandal, has rendered his resignation as Minister of Environment.

According to informed sources, Rambukwella had been informed to make his own decision in respect of continuing as a minister given the allegations surrounding  the Immunoglobulin scandal. 

However, the government has taken a stern stance that the former Health Minister should not continue as a Minister, according to the sources. 

Rambukwella is currently in remand custody after being arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last Friday.
