The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has revealed plans to initiate a no-confidence motion against Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, citing dissatisfaction with his handling of the Online Safety Bill.
Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa, expressed the party's loss of faith in the Speaker, particularly concerning the Online Safety Bill. Premadasa highlighted the opposition's notification of recommended amendments by the Supreme Court, which were allegedly ignored during the bill's third reading.
The Leader of the Opposition emphasized that this disregard led to the endorsement of the bill, prompting the decision to bring forth a motion of no confidence against Speaker Abeywardena.
