The Sri Lanka Navy has organized a wide range of programmes, giving pride and place to religious activities and time-honoured naval traditions, to mark its 73rd Anniversary. As part of these events, the officers’ get-together was held on a colorful note at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall
At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Mala Lamahewa the event was dignified by the presence of the Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and his spouse, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, former Navy Commanders and a group of distinguished guests.
Organized under the theme "Elegance of the Blue Wave" (Nil Ralle Chamathkaraya), this friendly gathering aimed to express gratitude towards retired senior officers and acknowledge the contributions of serving senior and junior officers from various naval commands in attendance. The ambiance of the evening was made more colorful by the entertaining performances presented by the Navy Band and Cultural Troupe.
Moreover, valuable prizes were given to the fortunate winners selected through a raffle draw for the participants, and the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit also presented prizes to the guests.
The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanagr and his spouse, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and his spouse, Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne, a group of senior officers from tri services, diplomatic corps, retired senior officers, executive committee members of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, serving senior and junior officers were also present on this occasion.
