Train operations on the mainline experienced disruptions today as an earth mound collapsed between Bandarawela and Heeloya.
The Officer In Charge of the Nawalapitiya Control Room, Dhammika Herath, reported delays for all trains operating on the Colombo-Badulla main line.
In a separate incident, the Podi Menike train en route from Badulla to Colombo Fort derailed between the Badulla and Hali Ela stations earlier in the day.
The train's engine and a rear compartment were affected by the derailment.
