State Minister Sanath Nishantha's vehicle came under attack after colliding with another car in Marawila today, police said.
The occupants of the other car reportedly assaulted the State Minister's jeep, causing damage in the aftermath of the collision.
The incident occurred in front of the Modarawella Church in Marawila as the State Minister was en route to Dankotuwa to attend an event.
A millionaire businessman has been taken into custody in connection with the altercation.
It is reported that the businessman, incensed by the damages to his vehicle and the presence of State Minister Sanath Nishantha in the jeep, attacked the vehicle with an iron rod.
