The Sri Lankan cricket team, which returned to the country amidst tight security following a dismal performance at the ICC World Cup, departed the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in their private vehicles, despite Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) arranging secure transport for them.
Having won only two out of the nine matches played in the group stage, the team faced significant challenges during their World Cup campaign.
The squad, which experienced a decline in its standing in the ICC World Cup, arrived early this morning from Bangalore, India, on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-174.
Although a special bus was provided for the team's departure from the airport, many players opted to leave for their homes in their private vehicles under tight security measures.
Upon their arrival at the Katunayake Airport arrivals terminal, several officials from Sri Lanka Cricket were present to welcome the team.
