A 42-year-old Sri Lanka Navy personnel was arrested for fatally stabbing a fellow sailor at the Trincomalee Naval Base during a dispute fueled by alcohol.
The Trincomalee Harbour Police initiated an investigation following information from the Trincomalee Hospital Police post about the death of the victim due to stab injuries.
The incident unfolded after four sailors, including the victim and the suspect, consumed alcohol at their accommodation.
Following an argument that erupted when two of them had left, the suspect stabbed the victim.
Both individuals involved, the deceased and the suspect, are residents of Matale.
