COLOMBO (ZiraDaily) - The Agriculture Ministry has announced that a sum of Rs. 1,000 million has been distributed as the first installment of the financial subsidy to all farmers engaged in paddy cultivation.

The government plans to allocate a total of Rs. 12 billion to support all farmers, with the goal of cultivating 800,000 hectares of paddy this year.

Further steps will be taken to ensure the appropriate allocation of funds as paddy cultivation activities commence.

To aid farmers in purchasing fertilizers for this Maha season, the government has decided to provide a financial subsidy of Rs. 15,000 per hectare.

The Finance Ministry has released the first billion rupees to the Agriculture Ministry, and the funds have been credited to the district offices' accounts as of today (06).
