The Colombo District Court has issued an enjoining order against G. P. Nissanka, restraining him from creating and spreading defamatory content targeting Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne.
This order comes as a response to the dissemination of false and defamatory material through the webpage "Sri Rawana Lanka Puwath," which is operated by G. P. Nissanka. The court granted the order during a hearing related to a compensation claim of Rs. 1 billion against the defendant for publishing malicious statements.
The enjoining order specifically forbids G. P. Nissanka from sharing malicious statements or false and fabricated content with the intention of damaging the plaintiff's reputation on the webpage "Sri Rawana Lanka Puwath" or any other program or social media platform. The court's decision was based on the evidence presented by the plaintiff.
President's Counsel Jagath Wickramanayake represented the case on behalf of Attorney-at-Law Eranga Pinnaduwa.
The next hearing in this case is scheduled for November 9th at the Colombo District Court.
