The Republic of Korea Navy's ship, ROKS 'Gwanggaeto the Great', arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy extended a warm welcome to the visiting ship in accordance with naval traditions.
ROKS 'Gwanggaeto the Great' is a 135-meter-long destroyer with a crew of 249 members. The ship is under the command of Captain Kim, Hyoung Churl.
During the visit, the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation, Nimal Siripala de Silva, along with a group of dignitaries, held discussions on board ROKS 'Gwanggaeto the Great'. Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, and Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera were also present on this occasion.
While in Colombo, the crew of ROKS 'Gwanggaeto the Great' will have the opportunity to visit some of the country's tourist attractions. The ship is scheduled to depart the island on October 28th.
This visit further strengthens the bilateral relations between the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka, showcasing the importance of naval cooperation and fostering cultural exchange between the two nations.
