Traffic has resumed on Dudley Senanayake Mawatha in Borella following the completion of repairs to a major drainage pipeline, Colombo Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar said.

The disruption on Tuesday (20) was caused by a failure in a pressurised drainage main that is more than 50 years old, the Mayor said.

She noted that the Colombo Municipal Council’s Drainage Division responded promptly and carried out the necessary repairs despite the age of the infrastructure and the complexity of the work.

The Mayor confirmed that the repairs had been completed and the road was now open to vehicular traffic.
