Showers or thundershowers are expected across most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, with heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces, as well as Anuradhapura District.

The public has been advised to take necessary precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.

Misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are expected in several sea areas from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during the evening or night.

Winds are expected to be south-easterly or variable at speeds of 20–30 kmph, while sea conditions will generally remain slight.

However, temporarily strong gusty winds of 60–70 kmph and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
