Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been remanded until October 13 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court following her arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Additional Magistrate Darshima Premaratne also directed prison officials to make arrangements for Rajapaksa to receive medical treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.

Meanwhile, former National Savings Bank (NSB) Chairman Pradeep Kariyawasam, husband of former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake, was granted bail by the court.

Kariyawasam had also been arrested by CIABOC officers in connection with the same case.
