A special programme to mark World Tourism Day 2026 was held today (27) at the Royal Palace premises in the historic city of Polonnaruwa. The day-long event attracted a large number of local and foreign tourists, with a range of recreational games and activities organised for participants. The programme was jointly organised by the Polonnaruwa District Secretariat, Thamankaduwa Divisional Secretariat and the Tourism Sub-Committee.
Organisers said such programmes would help further promote Polonnaruwa’s historical and cultural heritage among local and international tourists while giving fresh momentum to the tourism industry in the district.
