Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi remarked on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen in seven days, depending on the United States' actions.
"Iran has conveyed a specific seven-day plan to the United States through Qatar. If the necessary conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz can be reopened, and normal maritime traffic can resume within seven days," Araghchi told reporters on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). "The choice now lies with the United States. Iran will not accept coercion, threats, or intimidation, and will not give up its sovereign rights under pressure."
Earlier, the US said it held indirect talks with Iran on the sidelines of the UNGA. Initially, it was reported that the US rejected Iran's conditions. Later, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that Tehran is still awaiting Washington's response.
