A 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck near the shores of France's Pacific territory of New Caledonia, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
According to preliminary information, the epicenter was registered at a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake struck 80 kilometers north-northeast of Tadine, a village on Mare Island, the second-largest island of the Loyalty Islands, part of the archipelago of New Caledonia.
