Sri Lanka is set to mark a new milestone in the renewable energy sector with the opening of the country’s first battery energy storage system in Anuradhapura tomorrow (18).
The 10-megawatt battery storage system is expected to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s renewable energy capacity and support the integration of renewable power into the national grid.
Meanwhile, the “Diyapanahi” floating solar power plant, constructed at the Ibbankatuwa Reservoir in Dambulla, is also scheduled to be connected to the national grid tomorrow.
The 5-megawatt floating solar facility is expected to generate enough electricity to continuously supply power to around 10,000 households, according to authorities.
