The Ministry of Labour has launched its newly redesigned official website, featuring modern technology and a range of improved services aimed at providing more efficient and transparent services to the public.
The new website was launched under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Labour Mahinda Jayasinghe at the Ministry of Labour premises at the Mehewara Piyasa building in Narahenpita.
The website provides access to information on amended labour laws, programmes and projects implemented by the Ministry, as well as various labour-related application forms, Wages Boards decisions, gazette notifications and circulars, including those related to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF).
The website is accessible via mobile phones and computers in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
It also enables members of the public to submit online complaints regarding workers’ rights and workplace-related issues.
The new platform provides links to the websites of the Department of Labour, Department of Manpower and Employment, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and National Institute of Labour Studies.
The project is part of the government’s efforts to digitalise public services, enabling the public to access a range of services without having to visit the Ministry in person.
Meanwhile, the launch also marked the commencement of the “Check Claim Status” facility under the Digital EPF service, allowing members to check the progress of applications submitted to obtain EPF benefits online.
A number of officials from the Ministry of Labour and the Department of Labour attended the event.
