A special traffic plan will be implemented in Colombo today(13) due to the “Colombo Marathon 2026” international marathon, police said.
According to the Police Media Division, traffic restrictions will be imposed on roads along the marathon route from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. today (13)
The marathon is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. from the National Sports Authority premises and proceed through Kollupitiya and Marine Drive towards Galle Face.
Vehicles travelling towards Colombo along Marine Drive will be diverted at the Kollupitiya Junction onto alternative routes.
Police have also advised motorists travelling towards Colombo from Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia and surrounding areas to use alternative routes via the M.O.D. Junction, Kompannavidiya, Welikada and Borella.
Police officers will be deployed to manage traffic during the event, and motorists and the public have been requested to follow their instructions.
Police further said between 175 and 177 motorcycles will be deployed to assist with security and traffic management during the marathon.
