Sri Lanka Women Reach Asia Cup Final After Four-Wicket Win Over Pakistan
Sri Lanka Women have secured a place in the final of the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup after defeating Pakistan Women by four wickets in the second semi-final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Sri Lanka’s bowlers applied pressure from the outset, restricting Pakistan to 130 for five in their allotted 20 overs.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana led the resistance with an unbeaten 47 off 36 deliveries.
For Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu and Chamudi Prabodha claimed two wickets each, while Sugandika Kumari took one wicket.
Chasing 131 for victory, Sri Lanka endured a difficult start as captain Chamari and several top-order batters were dismissed cheaply.
However, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari steadied the innings with a crucial fifth-wicket partnership. Harshitha scored 36, while Kavisha contributed 33 to bring Sri Lanka back into contention.
In the closing stages, Nilakshika Silva and Kaushini Nuthyangana held their nerve to guide Sri Lanka over the line.
Nilakshika remained unbeaten on 18, while Kaushini finished unbeaten on 10 as Sri Lanka reached 134 for six in 18.4 overs to complete a four-wicket victory.
Sri Lanka will now face India in the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup final, which is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium tomorrow (13).
After overcoming Pakistan, Sri Lanka now have just one challenge remaining — defeating India and lifting the Asia Cup trophy.
