Sri Lanka’s first-ever Colombo Marathon International Competition, aimed at promoting the country’s tourism industry, is scheduled to begin this Sunday from Galle Face Green in Colombo.
The Sports Minister officially announced details of the international marathon at a media briefing held today (12).
The event will bring together both local and international athletes, with around 1,200 participants already registered for the full marathon alone.
In addition to the full marathon, the event will feature a half marathon, a 10-kilometre race and a 5-kilometre recreational run.
Organisers expect more than 5,000 participants to take part across all events.
The Sports Minister said the international marathon has been designed with a focus on promoting tourism, with Colombo serving as the centre of the event.
