According to reports, the shooting attempt was allegedly carried out targeting a relative of organized crime figure Kosgoda Tharaka.
The suspect reportedly attempted to fire twice using a 9mm firearm, but the weapon failed to discharge on both occasions.
Kosgoda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
