Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage has won the men’s javelin title at the Diamond League Final with an impressive throw of 89.04 metres on Saturday night.
Pathirage finished ahead of Poland’s Dawid Wegner, who recorded a personal best of 87.47m, while Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott secured third place with a season-best throw of 83.99m.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished fourth with 83.70m, followed by Kenya’s Julius Yego with 76.79m. Belgium’s Timothy Herman and the United States’ Curtis Thompson completed the field.
The victory adds another major title to Pathirage’s outstanding 2026 season. He currently holds the world-leading mark of 92.62m, set in Rome on June 4.
Entering the Diamond League Final as the world No. 1 in men’s javelin, Pathirage once again delivered a commanding performance against a strong international field.
His 89.04m throw secured the title by a margin of 1.57 metres over Wegner.
