Unauthorised hotels and other structures operating along the coastal stretch from Bambalapitiya to Dehiwala have been ordered to be removed before September 10.
The Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management Department has instructed the relevant establishments to remove the unauthorised structures within the stipulated period.
The directive forms part of ongoing action against unauthorised constructions and businesses operating within the coastal zone. The Department has previously stated that development activities within the coastal zone generally require approval under the Coast Conservation Act.
Authorities are expected to take further action against establishments that fail to comply with the order by the September 10 deadline.
