Sri Lankan authorities have decided to continue the Fuel QR Code system as a precautionary measure amid ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East.
CPC Managing Director Mayura Neththikumara said the decision has been taken despite adequate fuel stocks currently available across the country. The existing reserves are sufficient to meet national demand, according to authorities.
The QR allocation system will be maintained to prevent fuel queues and disruptions should global supply chains be affected by escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Neththikumara said the system would also help ensure the controlled distribution of fuel and prevent panic buying during a period of unpredictable international market and supply conditions.
