The first vessel carrying coal to the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant for the second quarter of this year has arrived in Puttalam.

Minister of Energy, Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka visited the Lakvijaya Power Plant this morning (04) to inspect the current coal stock and related operations.

The coal vessel IVS Trader has now arrived in Puttalam. Following the completion of necessary procedures with the relevant authorities, unloading of the coal is scheduled to begin this afternoon.

The Minister observed that the Norochcholai Power Plant currently has sufficient coal stocks to meet the plant’s requirements for the next few days.

During his visit, Minister Karunathilaka also met with the managerial and junior staff of the Lakvijaya Power Plant and expressed his appreciation to all employees who continue to carry out their duties with dedication and commitment to the institution and the country during this challenging period.
