Koralagamage Mandinu Padmasiri Perera, widely known as "Kehelbaddara Padme", who was being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), has been ordered to be remanded until September 17.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued this order today (03) following submissions presented by the CID when the case was called before the court.
The suspect appeared before the magistrate virtually via Zoom technology from the Boossa Prison.
During the proceedings, investigation officers requested the court to extend the remand period as investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
Accepting the request, the Magistrate directed the CID to transfer any unrelated cases pending against the suspect in other courts to those respective jurisdictions, noting that only the case under the PTA and the case concerning the assassination of Ganemulla Sanjeewa will proceed in this court.
