Australia’s leading low-cost airline, Jetstar Airways, is set to commence flights to Bandaranaike International Airport tomorrow (August 25), marking the airline’s first-ever operations to Sri Lanka.
The new service will operate as a direct route between Melbourne and Colombo. Jetstar’s inaugural flight, JQ5, is scheduled to depart Melbourne at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow and arrive in Colombo at 5:50 p.m.
The return service, JQ6, will depart Colombo at 7:50 p.m. and arrive in Melbourne at 10:00 a.m. the following day.
The new route will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
Hayleys Aviation will serve as Jetstar’s General Sales Agent (GSA) in Sri Lanka.
The launch of the new direct service is expected to strengthen air connectivity between Sri Lanka and Australia while providing passengers with a new low-cost travel option between Colombo and Melbourne.
