Secretary to the President Receives Silver Chariot Procession of Colombo Annual Vel Festival near Presidential Secretariat
The silver chariot procession of the 152nd annual ‘Aadi Vel’ Festival of the Nattukottai Nagarathar Sri New Kathiresan Temple Hetti Vidiya, Bambalapitiya was received by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake near the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon (28).
The Secretary to the President offered a tray of fruits to the statue of Lord Murugan carried on the Vel chariot and participated in religious observances and received blessings.
The silver chariot procession, which commenced this morning from the Kathiresan Temple on Sea Street, Pettah, as part of the Colombo Annual Aadi Vel Festival, proceeded through the main streets of Colombo before reaching the Sri New Kathiresan Temple in Bambalapitiya.
Deputy Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Sundaralingam Pradeep, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, and several other distinguished guests participated in the occasion.
