Former State Minister Shantha Bandara's son, Anuda Janadith Bandara, along with four other suspects who were remanded in custody over a major financial robbery, have been ordered to be released on bail.
The order was issued when the suspects were produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today (27). After considering the submissions, the Magistrate granted each suspect a personal bail of Rs. 500,000. Furthermore, the court imposed a strict overseas travel ban on all five individuals until the conclusion of the case.
The group, including the former minister's son, was initially apprehended by the police on the 21st of this month. Their arrest was in connection to the alleged robbery and fraud of Rs. 20 million from a Chinese national. Following their arrest, they had been held in remand custody until today's court appearance.
