Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says investing in education, creativity, culture and the arts is a fundamental part of national development, stressing that these sectors play a key role in building an innovative, resilient and democratic society.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while participating in the Colombo Literary Festival held in Colombo on July 24.

She stated that the government recognises education, creativity, culture and the arts as essential pillars of national progress rather than separate areas of development.

"A society that values knowledge, creativity and free expression is better equipped to innovate, address challenges and strengthen democracy," the Prime Minister said.

Dr. Amarasuriya emphasised that fostering creativity and protecting freedom of expression are crucial to creating an inclusive society capable of responding to future challenges and driving sustainable national development.
