The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced that the period for receiving public comments on determining the purchase price of electricity generated from renewable energy sources will conclude today (July 22).
PUCSL Director Jayanath Herath stated that the tariff for renewable energy electricity purchases will be determined for the next six months based on the feedback received during the consultation process.
Under the Sri Lanka Electricity Reform Act, the authority to decide and approve the applicable purchase prices and pricing formulas for electricity generated from renewable energy sources and purchased by successor companies of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been assigned to the Public Utilities Commission.
Accordingly, pricing formulas have already been prepared and approved for purchasing electricity generated from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass, Herath said.
