The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) is set to launch a one-day strike across Sri Lanka’s state university system tomorrow (30) over several concerns affecting university academics.

FUTA General Secretary Senior Lecturer Charudaththe Illangasinghe said the strike was prompted by a shortage of academic staff, excessive workloads and inadequate physical facilities at state universities.

The trade union action aims to draw attention to these longstanding issues affecting the country’s state university system.
