Sri Lanka's national karate team returned home after delivering an outstanding performance at the 10th South Asian Karate Championship held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, bringing pride to the nation by winning a total of 85 medals.
The team arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL190, where they were warmly welcomed by officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, representatives of the Sri Lanka Karate Association, as well as the athletes' parents and supporters.
Sri Lanka concluded the championship with an impressive medal tally of 13 gold, 23 silver, and 49 bronze medals, showcasing the country's growing strength in regional karate.
In addition to the athletes' achievements, five Sri Lankan coaches who accompanied the team successfully obtained the Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Coaching Accreditation, earning official recognition as certified AKF coaches. This milestone is expected to further strengthen the development of karate in Sri Lanka and enhance the country's coaching standards.
The team's remarkable success at the championship highlights Sri Lanka's continued progress in the sport and reinforces its position as one of the leading karate nations in South Asia.
