During today's sitting, Parliament is expected to debate and approve two resolutions under Standing Orders 119 and 120.
From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., a special debate will be held on a proposal to refer the report of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) to the Attorney General. The report concerns the committee's investigation into the permit scheme that allows Sri Lankans employed overseas to import fully electric vehicles.
Parliament will also debate a proposal to refer matters uncovered during investigations conducted by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for appropriate legal action.
From 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Parliament is scheduled to debate an adjournment motion on the performance of the Committee on Public Petitions.
Meanwhile, the Opposition is expected to submit a no-confidence motion against Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara to the Speaker today.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ajith P. Perera stated that all Opposition parties have jointly agreed to present the no-confidence motion.
