The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has submitted a set of recommendations to the Ministry of Health aimed at strengthening efforts to curb the rising dengue outbreak in the country.

The proposals were presented during a special meeting between Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and the newly elected Executive Committee of the GMOA.

At the meeting, the Minister congratulated the Association’s newly elected President, Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa, Secretary Dr. Bandara Warakagoda, and the newly appointed Executive Committee members.

Dr. Jayatissa expressed appreciation for the GMOA’s continued support and said he looked forward to working closely with the Association in implementing the Ministry’s programmes to improve the quality and efficiency of Sri Lanka’s healthcare services.

The discussion also reviewed the current dengue situation and the ongoing response to the outbreak, with particular attention given to the challenges faced by specialist consultants, medical officers and nursing staff in treating dengue patients.

During the meeting, GMOA Secretary Dr. Bandara Warakagoda handed over a special report containing the Association’s proposals to enhance mosquito control measures and strengthen the national dengue prevention program.
