Sri Lanka’s National Export Development Plan (NEDP) for 2026–2030 was officially handed over to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, marking a major milestone in the country’s economic reform agenda.

The strategic plan, developed under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and led by the Export Development Board (EDB) with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s export sector and drive export-led sustainable economic growth in line with national policy priorities.

The plan envisions transforming Sri Lanka into a competitive logistics and knowledge-based export hub serving regional and global markets. It identifies eight priority export sectors, including automotive components, mineral-based industries, rubber products, maritime industries, spices and concentrates, digital products and services, electrical and electronic goods, and processed food products.

The proposal, which was approved by the Cabinet on 4 May 2026, also targets achieving USD 36 billion in export earnings by 2030 under the national vision “A Prosperous Country – A Beautiful Life.”

Several key officials, including ministers and senior government representatives, participated in the handover ceremony, highlighting broad stakeholder engagement in shaping the plan.
