Sri Lanka has recorded a notable increase in tourist arrivals during the first half of June 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

During the first 14 days of June alone, a total of 54,465 tourists arrived in the country. India remained the leading source market, contributing 21,839 visitors, accounting for 42% of the total arrivals during this period. Other key source countries included China (3,503 visitors), the United Kingdom (4,160 visitors), and Australia (3,105 visitors).

The broader data from January 1 to June 14, 2026, shows that Sri Lanka welcomed a total of 1,076,487 international tourists. Among them, India continued to dominate with 272,099 arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom with 102,253 visitors and Russia with 76,686 visitors.

Tourism officials say the steady growth reflects continued recovery and strong international interest in Sri Lanka as a travel destination in 2026.
