The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) is scheduled to convene at 3.00 PM today at the Parliamentary Complex under the chairmanship of MP Harsha de Silva.

The meeting is expected to focus on the alleged cyber theft of US$2.5 million from the Treasury, an incident that has raised concerns over the security of state financial systems.

As part of the proceedings, the Treasury is due to submit a detailed report on the incident to the committee. The report follows recommendations made by COPF during an earlier session.

Previously, on May 30, Treasury and Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma appeared before the committee and provided explanations regarding the alleged cyber breach.

The committee is expected to review the findings of the Treasury report and discuss further measures relating to the incident.
