According to the NDCU, the programme will be carried out from June 8 to June 10 in 72 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions located within 12 districts identified as high-risk areas.
Recent statistics released by the unit indicate that 36,168 dengue cases have been reported islandwide as of June 5, with the highest number of infections recorded in the Western Province.
Health authorities noted that significant numbers of cases have also been reported from the districts of Matara, Galle, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Puttalam, and Kandy.
The NDCU further stated that 20 dengue-related deaths, including three children, have been reported so far this year and urged the public to support mosquito control efforts by eliminating potential breeding sites in their surroundings.
