A demonstration organised by several opposition political parties was held today (08) near the Fort Railway Station in Colombo, protesting what participants described as the unfair and inhumane treatment of former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay.

A large number of representatives from opposition parties and supporters attended the protest, voicing concerns over the continued detention of the former intelligence chief.

Major General (Retd) Suresh Sallay was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 25 in connection with investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. He remains under CID custody following court orders issued in relation to the ongoing inquiry.

Protesters called for justice and urged authorities to ensure that legal proceedings are conducted fairly and in accordance with due process.
